Finger Lakes Exhibition Party Is This Saturday

By Rebecca Kraai, Advancement Program Assistant

img_0951If you are out walking in the Neighborhood of the Arts on Saturday evening, you won’t miss the sweet sounds of Sim Redmond Band coming from the front entrance to the art gallery. SRB is a deservedly well-followed band from Ithaca and they will play from 8 to 10 pm. They write their own music, and produce a smooth and danceable sound. Food and drink will be outside as well.

img_09281The Westview Project plays great jazz inside our Vanden Brul Pavilion from 8-11 pm, with a cash bar and some snacks from Max at the Gallery.

A special string performance by Arvel Bird of the Ganondagan Native American Music & Dance Festival will happen toward 9:00 pm in the Pavilion while the jazz trio breaks. And a set of energized Celtic dancing runs at 9:30 pm inside the auditorium.

serritella1And the reason for the festivities is the opening of the Rochester-Finger Lakes Exhibition. Twenty-eight regional artists display their jury-chosen works at the Memorial Art Gallery until October 4. This is a great mix of paintings, photography, jewelry, ceramics and other media. It’s always a treat to see the contemporary works from our Rochester-Finger Lakes artists.
