Democrat and Chronicle Features Creative Workshop Panoramic Photo

By Rachael Baldanza, Creative Workshop Managing Director

A photographer from the Democrat and Chronicle, Will Yurman, came in to Rochester’s community art school, the Memorial Art Gallery’s Creative Workshop, last Wednesday.

He took a panoramic photo of Creative Workshop Instructor Jeanne Lindsay’s Intermediate/Advanced watercolor class. He interviewed me, Jeanne, and Ann Taylor (long-time student) and the resulting episode of his Round Rochester series is called “Taking the Time to See” and is here.

artgallerypanopromolarge1For the next week, it will be the highlighted panorama on his page.

I think it really captures what we do in a unique and beautiful way. It was the photographer’s idea to capture this class. Each class is a little different. Another way to see community art school classes at Memorial Art Gallery’s Creative Workshop is to come to the Creative Workshop Summer Open House and/or see How To…The Process Show.

We believe that art can be taught and we would love to show you how we teach it. Our friendly instructors will be around to talk and our spacious studios will be open and inspiring. If you would like to see what this is like, or see if this class is for you, our Summer Open House is next Thursday, June 18, from 5-9 pm. It is completely free and should be very inspiring.

If you want to see more of how art can be taught, check out the How To…The Process Show on the walls of the Creative Workshop’s Lucy Burne Gallery*.

*ps. Please note that the Lucy Burne Gallery is open when the Creative Workshop is open, so it’s always a good idea to call for hours, first (585-276-8959).
