Asian Pacific American Heritage Family Day Is This Sunday
By Annie Chei, Founder & Artistic Director, Chinese Arts Academy of Rochester, Chinese Dance School of Rochester
As a MAG Asian Family Day committee member and performer for the 6th year, I’ve seen this event grown bigger and more popular every year! The goal of the Asian Pacific American Heritage celebration is to promote and foster Asian Pacific American identity by bringing together community and encouraging the sharing of differences and appreciation of diversity? MAG is doing a great job! More and more people are coming to the event each year to enjoy variety of art activities and live performance including traditional dances, music and story telling by different culture groups. It’s wonderful to see the performers and audience interactions and the exchange flow between all cultures is amazing!
This year, in addition to international booth display of ethnic demonstrations, there will be a multi-cultural costume show which incorporates diverse dances by seven cultural groups. The presentation will take place in the M&T Bank Ballroom and showcase traditional Asian costumes and wedding wear.
This Sunday’s event will be filled with excitement and entertainment for the whole family! Many artists have worked through out the year to prepare for it so don’t miss it!
See you there!
