The Beauty of Color + Light

Trained as a painter, the artist Louis Comfort Tiffany understood the power of color. Choosing to employ his talents – in art and in business – in the realm of stained glass, Tiffany harnessed beauty, devotional imagery and pure, translucent color in his windows. His technique of plating, or layering, different pieces and different shades of glass produced designs of unparalleled depth and richness.

We’ve installed a light table in the exhibition with pieces of translucent craft paper for visitors to layer and experiment with so that they might better understand how Tiffany was able to produce his extraordinary windows.

Here are two very different visitor approaches to playing with color and light – from one approach to another, long live engagement and interaction!
