2012 M&T Bank Clothesline Festival

As the Democrat and Chronicle put it: “Clothesline shrugs off rain.” The rain and wind gusts of Saturday’s Clothesline, may have actually brightened Sunday’s attendance. A couple hundred festival-goers were given passes so that they could return to Sunday’s Clothesline. And they did.  Sunday was packed with visitors and visits to the 3 ATM’s supplied by M&T Bank.

2012 Clothesline

This year’s festival featured 84 of the 420+ artists new to Clothesline. That’s about 20% of the show, and a good reason why so many people in the Rochester area keep coming back. People come to catch up with their favorites (think Steve Merritt) but to also to see and meet new talent such as Andrew Cho.

The University of Rochester’s videographer worked with the MAG’s PR staff to create an overview of the Festival, looking back at a history of 56 years. The video covers those that have been to the most Festivals (Dick Kane guesses that this is about his 50th Festival), those who are here for the first time (Dulcie Miller and Sharon Hunger Smith)  and even those that traveled the furthest to exhibit their work (Lorelei Hamm, Brooklyn). Enjoy.
