Art Can Be Taught

FAQ: “OK, so I couldn’t draw a stick figure if my life depended on it … are your beginning classes really for beginners?”
Short answer? Yes! You have more talent than you think. At the Creative Workshop, we coach, challenge, prompt, trigger and encourage—and love it when you make the artwork you never thought you could make. That happens a lot. Our hands-on art classes are frequently inspired by art on view within the Gallery.
Fall 2012/Winter 2013 classes for all ages begin in September. Creative Workshop keyWith the new key for the Creative Workshop Course Catalog, it will be easy to find a class. Anything marked “B” is truly for beginners—all you need is a heartbeat.

Art Day School is a fun, full-day art education program for children ages 7–13. Each week we explore an overall theme with two related classes, work on a variety of projects and utilize the resources of a world-class art museum. Art Day School runs until August 31. Here is a sampling of our current offerings:

August 20–24
When we start Mixing our Medias and learning about Surrealism, watch out!
(with Shelly Patterson & Amy Jarnagin Fisher)

August 27–31
For the last very fun week of summer, we’ll explore art that is Woven & Stitched and enjoy Drawing our Own Myths.
(with Mallory Hart & Warren Mianecke)
