Fiberart International Exhibition Opening Party This Saturday

By Rebecca Field Kraai, Advancement Program Assistant

If you have some interest in contemporary fiber art and a variety of great music, the Memorial Art Gallery has quite a show planned for this Saturday evening, April 30, 8-11 pm. What a line-up of music for the Fiberart International exhibition opening party!

Sim Redmond Band from Trumansburg, NY plays high quality original music which is easy to dance to and inspiring to listen to. Lacey Lee is graduating from Eastman graduate school and plays creative harp music partnering with a guitar and vocals. I like her music online, and look forward to seeing her live. She has a sweet and energetic spirit. And a Rochester favorite, Concentus Women’s Chorus, will be singing classical a cappella selections in the quieter setting of the beautiful Fountain Court on Memorial Art Gallery‘s second floor. I like moving from venue to venue, taking in the varieties of style. And the exhibit looks to be very creative and surprising. This international show occurs every three years, and chooses only the best of the best.

Emily Dvorin (United States), Magnificent Obsession (2008). Straws, cable ties.
