GlassWear / A Unity of Opposites exhibitions Opening Party on April 18

By Rebecca Kraai, Advancement Program Assistant

lechtzinAfter a rather long, very white and gray winter in Rochester, I can hardly wait for the opening of the two glass exhibits at the Memorial Art Gallery! The images I have seen from these exhibits are bright and stunning, and I am excited to see the entire exhibit. The opening party is a perfect time to enjoy this art, surrounded by the excitement of so many art lovers and Memorial Art Gallery supporters. This is a members-only party, meaning only gallery members and their guests were invited. Members at the Supporter level and higher can receive free tickets to this party, and all the other openings this year. Until Sunday, April 19, there is currently a special discount of $10 off for these memberships, so it is a great time to join. The party might sell out, so reservations need to be made soon.

Daniel Aune plays the Baroque organ in the Fountain Court and loves to share his interest and knowledge about the organ with comments between his pieces. Bob Sneider and his jazz trio provide an uplifting and pleasing background sound for the Pavilion. And of course breaking free in the ballroom to the dance music of Unlimited is a fun time for many.

Rochester’s well-known caterer, Max, is now providing the food for the opening parties. There is a cash bar available in the Pavilion and in the ballroom for hard and soft drinks. Delectable desserts are also available for purchase. The Gallery Store will be open with their usual beauties and also a good stock of hand-crafted glass pieces.

Break out of winter, and treat your senses to this wonderful show and party! Call 585-276-8939 for reservations or to join the Memorial Art Gallery.
