What’s in your attic?

By Lois Sumberg, Gallery Council Member

100_2153_cropWhat’s in your attic or in an out-of-the-way nook or cranny in your home that you rarely frequent? Rochester’s most prestigious garage sale needs your forgotten treasures. When I went looking, I found a silver-plated pedestal style covered butter dish. I bid on it some twenty-five years ago at an auction sponsored by my daughter’s school. I thought I had to have it, but did I ever use it? Not once! I think it’s time to part with it.

Your abandoned treasures deserve a second chance to please. Donate them all to the Art and Treasures Sale, sponsored by the Gallery Council of the Memorial Art Gallery. We take gently used antiques, artwork, jewelry, china, porcelain, silver, crystal, fine linens and small furniture items. All sales benefit the Memorial Art Gallery. (No clothing, please.) All donations are tax deductible.

Items can be dropped off at the Memorial Art Gallery Tuesday, June 22 from 2-5 pm; Wednesday, June 23 and Thursday, June 24 from 10 am-4 pm. For early pick-up of items contact Frankie Hall-Greene: or call Lois Sumberg, 585-473-7474.

Sale days are June 25, Friday 10 am-7 pm and June 26, Saturday, 9 am-2 pm, in Memorial Art Gallery’s Cutler Union. No admission charge!
