Area Teachers Sculpt at MAG

If you have ever wondered what teachers do in their spare time…..or what happens to all that cardboard you throw out……..
Wednesday May 12, 40 area teachers met at the Memorial Art Gallery to see the new exhibit, Albert Paley in the 21st Century.
Curator of Education for Interpretation Marlene Hamann-Whitmore spoke about the artworks and the artist – how he visualizes his ideas through working models or maquettes.
Inspired by the sculptures they had seen, the teachers then worked in small groups to create their own cardboard models interpreting themes like “Gratitude” and “Undercover.” Watch at your neighborhood school for the next generation of Albert Paley-inspired cardboard sculptures!
