The angels are flying in the Fountain Court!
By Nancy Norwood, Curator of European Art
The long-awaited installation of a pair of Baroque angels is now complete. Conserved by Barbara Moore under a grant from the Lower Hudson Conference, they now fly on either side of the Italian Baroque organ in the Fountain Court. Sue Nurse told me this morning that the pair was a favorite of Isabel Herdle’s; we hope that you feel the same way.
Thanks to everyone who helped with this complicated installation, including Monica Simpson, Barry Schieven, Debbie Smith, Barbara Moore, and Bob Davidson and Andy Lanzi of Exhibits and More, Syracuse, NY, who designed the fabulous mounts that make these angels fly!

It’s no wonder that Isabel loved them–they’re so joyful and practically Bernini-esque! Kudos to MAG for another great addition.
