M&T Bank Clothesline Festival YP Experience

By Bethany Mosher, MAG volunteer

Nelson almost sold out! NHOne of the things I struggle with as a young adult living in Rochester is finding fun things to do and on a limited budget. I would expect that many others my age have the same issue. So this is why I love the summers with the many local festivals that take place. My favorite by far is the Clothesline Festival at the MAG. For a small entrance fee, you can shop at and enjoy the many artist stands, watch and listen to the various entertainment offered, have food, and shop the gallery store…just to name a few! Since I don’t get a chance to go to the MAG as often as I’d like, it’s also a great opportunity to walk through the gallery since it’s included in your admission to the festival.

Clothesline 2008 (177)Aside from the experience you get from the festival, I love the availability of such talented artists and their work. I could spend an hour or more in just one artist’s booth discussing their artwork with them. It’s such a great setting to learn something new and get exposure to so many forms of art. It’s also a great place to pick up some new apartment décor or trendy jewelry. I have also volunteered at the event and it is just as enjoyable of an experience as a volunteer. A definite must-add to your calendar each year!
