Ice Sculpture by Charlie Hall on MAG Front Lawn

By Larissa Masny, Gallery Buzz Editor

ice_sculptureCharlie Hall, a non-figurative ice sculptor based in Rochester, sculpted an ice sculpture this past Thursday night on the front lawn of the Memorial Art Gallery. Due to continued freezing conditions, visitors may still see the sculpture on view.

News 10 NBC, the Democrat and Chronicle, and YNN 9 Rochester came out to film Charlie in action. Memorial Art Gallery Facebook Fans made the trek in the bone-chilling cold. Thanks to all of you who shared our excitement about this late night event in the middle of winter! Seeing the ice sculpture illuminated at night was truly striking.

I remember going to an ice sculpture exhibition in Alaska and boy what a beauty it was to see all those carefully sculpted figures.

Many people don’t know that there is a complete hotel in iceland made of ice. Chairs, tables, even glasses !!!
